Ancient Philosophers

This series of illustrated street banners was created in 2021 to help celebrate the Greek Bicentennial alongside Greek Heritage Month in Vancouver . The look was inspired by the limited colour scheme and figure techniques of ancient Athenian vase painting. The vibrant orange backdrops served a dual purpose: standing out among all the signage on the busy Broadway corridor and popping visually against the clear blue skies of a West Coast summer. Each philosopher's portrait was paired with a quote selected by the clients. The series was commissioned by The West Broadway BIA in partnership with the Hellenic Canadian Congress BC.
