Cinescope CMS
About
Cinescope is a content management system for online movies and series. It helps to acquire and sell film and series licenses, as well as establish relationships with partners for the purchase and sale of media content.
Content department employees of streaming platforms need to constantly monitor the status of licenses, notify users of expiration dates, and maintain the relevance of this data. We have improved access to materials and filtering to make it easier for content editors to find important information.
Creation & Editing
When creating a movie or series page, we ask for IMDB ID to automatically retrieve most of the information from there and save time on manual filling.
The licenses section shows who purchased the license and where it is applicable. Ideally, licenses should be continuous. However, sometimes a movie may be unavailable for a few weeks. We highlight this interval to draw the editor's attention and resolve the issue in a timely manner.
In the navigation, markers have been added to guide the editor to the necessary block and indicate important fields for filling in or checking.
Episodes
Episodes are short, looped fragments of movies or series created to facilitate the selection of content to watch. In short, they are the long-awaited answer to the eternal question, "What should I watch?"
There is a separate section for working with episodes, where users can manage playlists, create episodes directly there, as well as edit and flexibly control them.
The New Bicycle
Why do we need another CMS when there are plenty of proven solutions available?
Firstly, it is necessary to provide partners with access to different parts of the system: adding and editing materials, purchasing and selling licenses. The system should be user-friendly and flexible, catering to the needs of each user.
Secondly, there is a need to implement many narrowly specialized solutions, settings, and details that are not available in the interfaces of existing solutions. All of this needs to be developed from scratch, paying proper attention to it.
Details
The system interface is designed using atomic design methodology with some assumptions that help reduce compositional complexity and increase contrast between elements.
An important part is the information architecture of the modules. To assess the scale, you?can refer to the functional map that was developed in collaboration with the content departments of streaming services and went through several iterations of revisions. This?work helped create navigation that takes into account the main scenarios of content departments.
