Challenge

For my last project as a student in the Dribbble Product Design Course, I selected a project brief that allowed me to focus on UI design and continue to practice more advanced prototyping techniques. The user research, wire framing and basic visual systems had already been established. It was up to the designer to apply these in their own unique way and prototype as much as possible.

Research & Empathize

I was able to quickly empathize with the users, since I also had only previously been familiar with apps like Venmo, Robinhood, and other banking apps but I also found cryptocurrency to be a bit intimidating. I had heard friends and colleagues who were excited about it, so I would also welcome an app that made learning new investment strategies feel more accessible and approachable. I named this app Bitgoal, in the spirit of this app being their to help users find success in whatever goals they wanted to set, from just learning to making their first trade.

Visual Design & Prototyping

A rotation of multiple onboarding screens is intended to encourage, inspire, and draw new users in while giving them a quick intro of what that app is about.

The dashboard is simple with bold, bright colors to stand out from other dark backgrounds. Users have a horizontal carousel of options at that top that can take them directly to their Wallet, point them to trading and exploring crypto types, enrolling in courses, or even connecting to virtual advisors if they wanted to get professional advice (app could offer one shorter session for free).

Users could also scroll down to view various types of cryptocurrency (I had to do my own research for all the names and approximate values around this time in May 2022). A simple swipe allows them to access additional charts, analyst ratings, news and to even try trading.

I thoroughly enjoyed this process, and view both this course and what I could accomplish in this project over the last 3-4 weeks as an exciting start. I plan to continue building out more pages and expanding this prototype as I am enthusiastic about continuing to practice and expand all these new skills!
