'ULTIMUTTS' - Your ultimate dog services application.
Project Overview
‘Ultimutts’ is an iOS application designed to be a one-stop destination for all your pets needs. 'Ultimutts' primary goal is to have an application where the pet parent can be connected to verified trustworthy dog walkers and sitters and enable quick bookings and fast payments at any time. This app also has sections for shopping and booking in at local vets and groomers; it also links you to a community of dog lovers worldwide.
For the branding side of the app I have chosen to keep the colours clean and subtle, using the dark teal I wanted to give depth to the muted white and greys used. We created the logo and icons ourselves, the pun linking ‘ultimate’ and ‘ultimutt’ shows the fun inclusive side of the app to match the personalities of your furry friends. It’s important to us that the app is playful yet professional.
My Role
Following the full process from ideation to presentation below outlines my role in the process and the timeline in which each phase was achieved.
Research
The first steps we took was to define the problem our potential users were facing, their pain points and to conduct market research in order to validate Ultimutts business goals.
Our research showed that there was a substantial increase in pet ownership and pet spending in the past 20 years. However there was a clearly identified problem, that dog ownership was rising amongst city dwellers with office jobs wanting to become dog owners and they still needed to spend crucial dog walking time in the office/away from home.
With our problem defined, the team conducted interviews with potential users in order to establish what their pain points are and where they saw a potential with an app that could help them schedule their working week around their pet more.
User Persona
With the research conducted we could see that there was a lot of opportunities in a peer to peer dog walking app. Keeping the flow simple to navigate but having all the imbedded functionality for both walkers and dog owners to have their needs satisfied was going to be key. A rating system, photograph sharing and instant chat option were integral to the app legitimacy.
From the research we created an ideal user persona for a dog owner looking to book a dog walker through the app.
User Flow
With all the information now compiled, I started laying out the initial user flow for the app. Based on the user flow below, I created a set of wireframes that helped test and validate the ideas we had for possible solutions.
Wire Framing in FigJam and Figma
Taking the user flow and looking at some existing dog walking app flows I started to wireframe out ideas for the vision of the app. Keeping a map view to search walkers in your immediate area as well as the infinite scroll of walkers ranked based on your chosen filters.
Final Visual Design
The final visual design was created in Figma, I was constantly A/B testing to figure out the most user friendly flows for each navigation. My goal was to use clean and minimal design styles so that focus could be kept on some of the more complex features including the user profiles and dog walker search pages.
