Fido Dog Walking Experience

Fido is the app that makes finding an awesome dog walker a piece of cake. In a few clicks, you can have your furry best friend running wild in the neighborhood.

I'm Bentou Kaba a Product Designer based in NYC. I'm currently taking Dribbble's innuagral Product Design course. The team asked us to design a dog walking app that would help dog owners connect with fantastic dog walkers in their areas.

Problem Statement

Dog owners sometimes need help caring for and walking their dogs. Create a service to connect dog owners with dog walkers. Consider how we can help dog owners trust their dogs are in safe hands.

Here is Fido. A dog walking app that helps busy city-dwellers find dog walkers in their area. An easy flow that allows dog owners to find the perfect dog walker quickly.

I conducted research at my local dog park. I spoke to a couple of dog owners of varying ages, backgrounds, and needs. I then consolidated the findings into a comprehensive persona that best reflected the group as a whole.

This is Harry, a 32 y/o Tech Lead at a software engineering company based in New York. He has a pug named Lionel whom he loves dearly.

Next, I did some Market Research on other dog walking apps on the market right now. I noted some of the pros and cons of each app and how they approach the challenge of finding a good dog walker.

Rover

Straightforward onboarding process with few steps. I really liked how they didn't make you enter in payment info early in the flow like other dog walking apps.

Wag!

Very comprehensive filtering process that helps to filter the walkers that will best meet your dog's needs.

Airbnb

Most impressive UI of the three apps. The map, the buttons, color, and typography were all top-notch! Great photos that really showcase the awesome services they offer.

For a high-level look at the app, I then created a user flow. What screens would be necessary and in which order must they be in to ensure the smoothest flow for the user.

With a better scope of the flow of the app, I moved into the sketching and wireframing phase. I made some quick sketches of different screens and UI elements I'd be designing.

I created a component library to house all of the elements that make up the app. Creating components, variants and interactive components helped me to work faster and more streamlined.

After finishing my initial visual design I presented it for feedback and testing on the flow from a fellow designer and made more changes.

Made some more tweaks based on user feedback and visual aesthetic and I present you....

Here is the prototype. It was awesome experimenting with vertical and horizontal scrolls, as well as interactive components.

This was such a fun project to complete. I enjoyed going through the full design process and developing the project from research to clickable prototype. Over the past few weeks, I've been really able to streamline my process.

One of my favorite parts of the project was the testing phase. I really enjoyed getting feedback on my design to further refine the overall user experience. I believe this phase was crucial and took my product from good to great.

I'm excited to continue working on my process and building more awesome products in the future!
